Whether you’re currently playing, are a lapsed player, or even if you have never put your lips to a brass instrument before, how do you fancy giving it a go?  The chance of a lifetime, to see if you are inspired to get into this cultural pastime that predominated Doncaster’s entertainment in years gone by.

Doncaster’s Premier Brass Band – the Hatfield & Askern Colliery Band – is hosting a “Ave a’ Go – ‘Ave a Blow” day in the Doncaster  Wool Market, DN1 1NG on Sunday 22nd January 2023.  Doors will open at 11:00 am through to 3:00 pm, with current members of the band on hand to answer questions and give advice to aspiring players.  The brass band movement always welcomes new and returning players and our band room door beckons for those whose interest is sparked.

For absolute beginners, the band runs a tutored once weekly evening session to get things underway, led by its Principal Cornet and qualified Music Teacher, Vicki Kennedy.
