Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Jack Capstaff as the band’s new Musical Director.
Jack studied composition and conducting at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and specialises in the creation and performance of contemporary repertoire. He was recently awarded 2nd place and the highest-placed UK Entrant in the Brass Band Conductors’ Association conducting competition.
Previously Musical Director of Foresters Brass 2000 Band, City of Cardiff M2 Band, South Yorkshire Police Band, Ripon City Band, Harlequin Brass and Yorkshire Imperial Band, Jack has also worked with other bands on special projects, most recently with Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band in the recording of ‘The Snow Queen’. He will continue in his capacity as Musical Director of Derwent Brass on taking up this appointment.
Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band’s membership is delighted to welcome Jack into the band room, and we all look forward to working with him as we progress development of the band in readiness for the 2023 contesting round.
